Jay Fedigan

Professional Bio 2008

Jay Fedigan received a BFA in film and photography from Emerson College and went on to found Powerglide Media. As a principal partner with Powerglide, Jay was part of the production team on numerous productions and events for corporate and higher education clients such as Bose, Gillette, Teradyne, Harvey Industries, Harvard University and Northeastern University.  At Powerglide Media Jay produced, directed and edited projects, directed voice talent, directed live talent for events, conducted site surveys, directed casting for photo and video shoots, and provided on-site technical direction for large corporate events.

 In 1998 Jay left Powerglide to dedicate more time to producing, directing and editing his own video projects.  Later that year he conceived and began production of The Angry Heart, a documentary about the impact of racism on heart disease among African Americans, (www.theangryheart.com ). The Angry Heart has won several awards including Best Documentary, 2001 New Hampshire Film Expo; Finalist, 2002 The Roxbury Film Festival; Finalist, 2002 Freddie Awards; Special Jury Selection Award, The 2003 Spaghetti Junction Urban Film Festival. The Angry Heart has been broadcast on independent cable and community channels and continues to be shown at health and educational events for community centers, hospitals, universities and churches all over the country.  Jay speaks regularly about The Angry Heart, and health disparities at hospitals, universities, churches and many different social forums and has been interviewed on radio and television.

Jay is currently producing and directing  Living the Wine Life a fun and quirky weekly show about wineOther projects currently in production include: Dancing Spoon a food and wine web video show featuring food writer Michael Wheeler; The Legacy Project documenting the lives of ALS patients for Beth Israel Hospital; A Safe Place looking back on ten years of the Violence Prevention and Recovery Center at Beth Israel Hospital;  Words to Action a retrospective on the life of Horace Seldon, for Community Change.   Recently completed projects include:  Your One-Line Identity - On the Line - hosted by Daz Greenwood for the MIT Media Lab; Coming Up for Air, a Promotional video for Stan Strickland's one man play, for Alliger Arts;  Peter Senge keynote video for JAC University in Bejing, for JAC University. Jay also directs the videotaping of keynote addresses, presentations and speeches.  At the 2004 Appreciative Inquiry Conference in Florida Jay directed the videotaping of keynote presentations and edited the videos on-site to create a series of webcasts which were made available to a worldwide audience of virtual conference participants.  Jay has directed and edited many pretaped keynote presentations including those by Maya Angelou and Peter Senge.

Besides directing, Jay is an accomplished Avid editor and cameraman.  He is a seasoned traveler and has directed crews in Italy, France and all over the USA including Hawaii and the islands.  He is a published photographer and his photographs from Europe and the US have accompanied articles in: O The Oprah Magazine; The Boston Globe; The Underground Wine Journal; Hemispheres Magazine; EasyFood Magazine and In Vino Veritas.com, the independent wine column by Jonathon Alsop.
